Structured Learning Process

The curriculum of this basic course in classical portrait drawing takes you through a structured learning process focused on the techniques and principles of classical realism in portrait art. From the basics of line drawing and hand-eye coordination to the detailed rendering of values and volumes, and from understanding skull proportions to refining the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.

  • Foundation of Classical Drawing Techniques: Gain a thorough understanding of the fundamental techniques of classical drawing, including line drawing, shading, and texturing.
  • Development of Hand-Eye Coordination: Improve hand-eye coordination to accurately translate observation to paper.
  • Mastering Portrait Proportions: Learn to accurately capture the proportions of the skull and facial features in a portrait.
  • Rendering Values and Volumes: Develop the ability to render the interplay of light and shadow to create the illusion of three-dimensional form in a two-dimensional medium.
  • Refining Facial Features: Achieve proficiency in detailing the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears to bring life and realism to your portraits.

Develop the ability to render the interplay of light and shadow to create the illusion of three-dimensional form in a two-dimensional medium.

Requirements for this Drawing Course

  • No experience is required; just the passion to learn and refine your skills.
  • Almost all materials are provided, so you are free to explore the art of portrait drawing.
  • This basic course is ideal to prepare you for painting the classical portrait with oil paints.

The class is limited to a maximum of five people to ensure an informal atmosphere that invites discovery, learning, and enjoyment.

Course Fee

A block of 10 lessons (2.5 hours per lesson) costs 325 euro, including coffee, tea, drawing paper, pencil, and additional theoretical teaching materials.
