André Romijn, an award-winning artist, was inspired to create ‘The Dream,’ an oil painting on wood, by a 1910 black & white photograph taken by Imogen Cunningham, one of the first professional female photographers in the USA.

Renowned as a trailblazer in 20th-century photography, Imogen Cunningham (1883-1976) played a pivotal role in elevating photography as a recognized art form. With a career spanning over seven decades, she remained dedicated and passionate, capturing intricate details of the human anatomy, from eyes and ears to hands and feet. Many of her captivating images have etched their mark as iconic pieces in photographic history.
